Okra has been a staple of traditional Southern cooking. This More kulambhu can be prepared with various vegetables like white pumpkin, capsicum...

It has plenty of vitamins, calcium, zinc and dietary fiber.It is an ideal vegetable for weight loss. It should cooked in lower flame to retain its properties.


Lady's finger - 1 cup ( fresh or frozen)
Toor dal - 1 tsp 
Grated coconut - 2 tbsp 
Green chillies - 2-3 
Cumin seeds - 1 tsp 
Yogurt - 1 cup 
Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp 
Curry leaves - few ( optional)
Dry red chillies - 1 or 2 
Coconut oil or olive oil - 2 tsp ( I used olive oil)
Salt to taste 

Wash and soak the toor dal in warm water for 10-15 min.
Heat oil in a pan add lady's finger and fry it till it becomes soft. Then add turmeric powder and hing and fry to 2 min and  Keep aside.
Grind grated coconut, toor dal , cumin seeds , green chillies, to a fine paste adding some water.
Heat oil in a pan add mustard seeds, dry red chillies, curry leaves, cumin seeds when it starts to splutter add grounded paste and cook it till the raw smell goes off.
Then add curd, salt and required amount of water. Water depends on the quantity and the thickness you want for the gravy. Bring this liquid to boil. Once it boils it comes out like bubbles at the time switch off the heat.

Note :
Don't boil the curd more than 15 min.
